Jason LaReau, owner of Pippa’s Sports Cafe in Danbury, said he doesn’t have to do anything special to promote UConn games. He expects to see more than a 100 percent spike in business during the men’s championship game.
"It sells itself," he said. "Everybody turns White Leather Jaws 120mm out for UConn."
LaReau Silver Strass Marale 120mm said the lure of Pippa’s is a family atmosphere that makes fans feel at home. He said UConn fans at Pippa’s get very "rowdy and passionate" during games.
"We get a very close following of die hard UConn fans. In last 15 years I’ve seen the same people every year," he said. "We’re all friends one big happy family. Kennedy said he had to double his staff when the men played on Saturday, and he plans to do so again tonight.
"Some of our wildest nights at the bar have been UConn March Madness games," he said.

"It’s hard to pull people out of their houses on a Monday night," he said. "But we have a little more of a comfortable atmosphere for a Monday than a rowdy sports bar does."
If he does get a large crowd, though, Taveras said he will treat fans with some free snacks from the kitchen.
